The Park Theatre will host a special fundraising screening of Ken Burns’ documentary “Jackie Robinson” on Aug. 9, featuring a live discussion with the filmmakers.
The event begins at 4 p.m. at the theater, located at 19 Main St. The screening will feature a condensed, one-hour version of the documentary, which explores the life and legacy of Jackie Robinson, who broke Major League Baseball’s color line in 1947 and advocated for civil rights throughout his life.
Following the film, co-directors, producers, and writers Sarah Burns and David McMahon will participate in a live question-and-answer session. Emmy Award-winning writer Dayton Duncan will moderate the discussion.
General admission tickets cost $25 and cover both the film and the discussion. A $40 VIP option includes access to a 3 p.m. wine reception ahead of the screening. Proceeds from the event will support ongoing operations at the nonprofit venue as part of its Summer Baseball Movie Series.
