The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department is urging prospective hunters to register now for fall Hunter Education courses while spots remain open.
Courses are available as traditional, in-person classes or as a hybrid option featuring online coursework paired with an in-person field day. State officials strongly recommend pre-registering online, noting that field day spots will become harder to find as hunting seasons approach.
Hunter Education certification is required for anyone purchasing their first New Hampshire hunting license, and hunters must be at least 16 to hunt without an adult. Participants must be at least 12 years old to receive certification, which covers both firearms and archery. Children under 16 may hunt without a license if accompanied by a licensed adult who is at least 18.
Hunters who used a one-time apprentice hunting license last year must also complete the course before purchasing a standard license.
