A 15-year-old Francestown girl received significant but not life-threatening injuries when the car she was riding in collided head-on with a tree Saturday night.
Bennington Fire and Rescue, the Antrim Police Department, Antrim Fire and Rescue, and two troopers from New Hampshire State Police Troop B responded to the crash on Francestown Road (Route 47) between Old Coach Road and Onset Road in Bennington at 11:35 p.m. Saturday, July 18.
The girl was transported to Concord for evaluation of what appeared to be multiple fractures, according to Chief Marshall Gale of Antrim Fire and Rescue, who was at the scene.
Gale said the driver of the vehicle was unharmed.
“The driver said he was fine and refused treatment,” Gale said. “They were very fortunate that they got away with just the injuries they did have, as it certainly could have been a lot worse.”
Gale said the vehicle crashed “head-on into a tree.”
“There was heavy front-end damage and full airbag deployment,” Gale said.
Route 47 was restricted to one lane during the incident. Mike’s Towing and Recovery removed the vehicle.
Gale said weather and road conditions did not appear to be a factor and that first responders at the scene believe the driver may have fallen asleep.
The crash is under investigation.
