Monadnock Music will present two free family concerts this weekend featuring a musical adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s classic tale, “The Wind in the Willows.”
The performances are scheduled for Saturday, July 18, at 6 p.m. at Nova Arts in Keene and Sunday, July 19, at 3 p.m. at the Peterborough Town House. Both events are open to the public.
Composed by Mark Isaacs, the 45-minute suite adapts scenes from the book using a narrator, harp, piano, percussion, strings, and woodwinds. Isaacs originally composed the piece for Australia’s HUSH Music Foundation to support pediatric hospital patients and their families.
Baritone David McFerrin will narrate the production, accompanied by an ensemble of Monadnock Music musicians including flutist Rachel Braude, oboist Jennifer Slowik, violinist Charles Dimmick, cellist Rafael Popper-Keizer, harpist Amanda Romano, percussionist Nicholas Tolle and pianist Victor Cayres.
