Delray Beach, FL – Stephen Clifford Lowe passed away on May 11, 2026. Stephen was born March 18, 1947, in Peterborough, NH, to Harrison and Jennie (Ryan) Lowe. He grew up in Peterborough as the youngest of four brothers, Randy, Terry, Marvin, and Steve. After graduating Peterborough High School, he attended Farleigh-Dickinson University for a year before completing his studies and graduating from Keene State College. He began teaching after college and spent his entire career working in the ConVal school district: Thirty years at Peterborough Middle School; five at ConVal. He mainly taught math but was also interested in history and often taught Social Studies classes as well. He would occasionally fill in as an English teacher when staffing was needed. During his time teaching, he returned to school and earned his Master's degree in mathematics. He was also a coach for boys and girls soccer and girls softball. After retiring from coaching, he spent several seasons as an umpire behind the plate of many baseball and softball games. He will be remembered as a man whose dry wit touched generations of families. He balanced a demand for performance with fairness and respect. He also hung out with Bill for 25 years. He is survived by three sons: Sean, Jason, and Ben; and six grandchildren: Alex, Courtney, Nathan, Lianna, Ethan, and Makena.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, July 18th from 1-3pm at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester NH 03104.
