New Ipswich, NH – Robert “Bob” Edwin Haavisto, 76, of New Ipswich, NH, passed away peacefully at home on June 23, 2026, following a brief illness, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply.
Bob was born on July 18, 1949, in Fitchburg, MA, and was raised in Ashby, MA. He shared 55 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Eileen (Saari) Haavisto.
A man of strong faith in Jesus Christ, Bob lived quietly and humbly. He was content to work behind the scenes, noticing the needs of others and helping without seeking recognition.
For more than 40 years, Bob worked in the construction industry as an estimator and project manager.
Nothing brought Bob greater joy than his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Bob is survived by his wife, Eileen (Saari) Haavisto; his children, Amie Lillard and her husband Rick of Lynchburg, VA; Ben Haavisto and his wife Jessie, Joseph Haavisto and his wife Jessica, and Adam Haavisto and his wife Tiffany all of New Ipswich, NH. As well as 18 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, his sister Cindy (Haavisto) DiPippa and her husband Bob of Fitchburg, MA.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Toivo and Edith (Hammer) Haavisto; infant sons, Jason and Matthew; sister, Sharon (Haavisto) Bennett and her husband Richard.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A funeral service celebrating Bob’s life will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Christian Outreach Church, 199 North Street, Rindge, NH 03461. Light refreshments will be served following the service.
