Peterborough Town Library will launch its Summer Reading program June 22, offering activities for all ages through July 31.
This year’s theme is “Plant a Seed, Read!” Participants may register by visiting the library. The program includes prizes, weekly storytimes and activities for children, teens and adults.
The library will host a garden party and concert by Mr. Aaron and his band at 6 p.m. Friday, June 26, on the library’s river terrace. Summer Storytime and Baby Storytime will meet weekly, and Saturday Storytimes will be held June 27 and July 25.
“Reading, learning, and visiting the library throughout the summer helps children maintain and continue to develop their reading skills,” said Head of Youth Services Aimee LaRue. “Summer readers are more ready to learn when school returns in the fall, and this year parents can participate right along with their kiddos!”
Summer programs include collaborations with the Cornucopia Project, The Harris Center, The Mariposa Museum and Avenue A, along with a performance by Andy’s Summer Playhouse and visits with Snoopy the Rabbit.
Programs are supported by the Friends of the Peterborough Town Library, with giveaway books donated by the Kiwanis Club of Peterborough and Toadstool coupons donated by the Toadstool Bookshop in Peterborough and the Friends of the Peterborough Town Library.
All library events are open to the public. Peterborough Town Library is at 2 Concord St. in Peterborough and is open Monday through Saturday.
