Falling trees caused power outages and road closures Thursday evening on Abbott Hill Road and Burton Highway, according to Wilton fire officials.
Wilton Forestry 1 and Engine 2 were dispatched at about 6:42 p.m. to separate reports of trees on wires with fire. Forestry 1 responded to Abbott Hill Road, while Engine 2 responded to Burton Highway west of Jackson Drive.
Officials said the fire on Burton Highway was extinguished before crews arrived. Eversource was called to both scenes to repair damaged power lines and restore service.
Abbott Hill Road was closed to traffic and was expected to remain closed until about 10 p.m. Burton Highway was reduced to one lane, with power restoration expected by about 9 p.m., though officials noted outages could last longer.
Crews cleared the Abbott Hill Road scene, while Engine 2 remained on Burton Highway to assist Eversource with traffic control and tree removal.
