Secretary of State David Scanlan is reminding prospective candidates that the filing period for the 2026 state election will run from June 3 through June 12.
Candidates seeking federal, state or county offices must file a declaration of candidacy, a statement of financial interests and an administrative fee, or submit required petitions in place of the fee, according to the Secretary of Stateโs Office.
Candidates for governor, U.S. Senate, Congress, Executive Council, state Senate and county offices must file with the Secretary of Stateโs Office. Those running for state representative or delegate to the Republican State Convention may file locally or with the state.
All candidates must file in person by 5 p.m. on June 12, the final day of the filing period.
Third-party candidates and political organizations must file a declaration of intent during the same period and meet additional petition and certification deadlines extending into early September.
