Secretary of State David Scanlan is reminding prospective candidates that the filing period for the 2026 state election will run from June 3 through June 12.

Candidates seeking federal, state or county offices must file a declaration of candidacy, a statement of financial interests and an administrative fee, or submit required petitions in place of the fee, according to the Secretary of Stateโ€™s Office.

Candidates for governor, U.S. Senate, Congress, Executive Council, state Senate and county offices must file with the Secretary of Stateโ€™s Office. Those running for state representative or delegate to the Republican State Convention may file locally or with the state.

All candidates must file in person by 5 p.m. on June 12, the final day of the filing period.

Third-party candidates and political organizations must file a declaration of intent during the same period and meet additional petition and certification deadlines extending into early September.

More information is available at the Secretary of Stateโ€™s website.
