The Monadnock Chorus will celebrate the arrival of spring with “Rise, Heart!,” a program of choral music spanning centuries, at 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 9 and 10, at the Peterborough Town House.

Under the direction of Artistic Director Sandra Howard, the concert will feature a range of works, including Mozart’s “Regina coeli,” Brahms’ “Liebeslieder Waltzes, Op. 52,” Vaughan Williams’ “Five Mystical Songs,” and Alex Berko’s contemporary piece “Sacred Place.”

The program draws on texts from the 12th to the 21st centuries and explores themes of spiritual and emotional uplift.

The Monadnock Chorus, now in its 66th year, is a non-auditioned community ensemble that brings together singers of all ages and backgrounds. The group presents four major concerts each winter and spring, as well as a Summer Sing program in August. Its “SING!” initiative offers free memberships to singers ages 12 to 26.

Tickets for “Rise, Heart!” are $25 and are available online at monadnockchorus.org or at the door.
