Have you ever wanted to preserve your personal history through the written word and share your story with future generations? Or perhaps go back to a place in your past that shaped you to become the person you are. On June 18 and 19, the memoirist Lorraine Ash will hold a writing workshop at the Peterborough Library that focuses on the power of place.ย Place and identity are inextricably linked. Using a personal map-drawing technique, prompts, and literary examples, Ash will help the class explore and connect personal stories evoked by the streets, landscapes, and neighborhoods they’ve inhabited.ย
Ash works as a book editor and author coach specializing in all forms of autobiographical writing. She has penned two memoirs,ย “Life Touches Life: A Mother’s Story of Stillbirth” and “Healingย andย Self and Soul: On Creating a Meaningful Life.” Most recently, she edited the award-winningย Corona City: Voices from an Epicenter, an anthology of first-person accounts that chronicles life in New Jersey and New York when these two states were the nation’s first COVID-19 epicenter. Lorraine studied at Fordham University and California State University, Long Beach. She lives in New Jersey.
