The ConVal boys and girls track teams each placed third in a multi-team meet at Milford High School on Wednesday, April 15.
The boys team finished third out of four teams with 63.5 points, while the girls placed third out of five teams with 53 points.
The boys were led by a dominant performance in the 400-meter run, where Ross Stephens, Griffin Schultz and Walter Stephens swept the top three spots. Ross Stephens won the event in 48.19 seconds, breaking his own school record and posting the second-fastest time in state history. Schultz finished second in 51.68 seconds, followed by Walter Stephens in 52.39 seconds. The trio teamed with Bretton Davies to win the 4×400-meter relay in 3 minutes, 34.85 seconds.
Junior Morly Johnson added another first-place finish for the boys with a shot put throw of 43 feet, 1 inch.
Second-place finishes for the boys included Jack Telofski in both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles with times of 20.61 and 46.81 seconds, respectively, and Ethan Whitaker in the javelin with a throw of 117 feet, 10 inches. Additional points came from Eli Austin, Matias Fabre de la Fuente, Owen Kandilakis, Xavian Porter, Vinny Hollenbeck and Will Ricaurte.
For the girls, Whitney Adair led the way with a first-place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:34.95. She also placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 25 feet, 11 inches and ran the leadoff leg on both the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams.
Amelia Blanchette added a second-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 64 feet, 8 inches. Other contributors for the girls included Davia Porter, Khloe Rusin, Larianna Trudel, Amelie Davis, Alia Dodge, Callie Post, Evelyn Webb and Megan Bouyounes.
