The New Hampshire Department of Transportation will continue construction of a new bridge over the Contoocook River and the new US 202 connector road in Jaffrey. Road work on US 202/River Street in downtown Jaffrey will begin Monday, April 13.
Weather permitting, lane closures with one-way alternating traffic should be expected daily between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This phase of the project will reconstruct a portion of Route 202 (River Street) and Blake Street to re-route US 202 over a new bridge to the existing 5-way US 202/NH 124 intersection. Work scheduled for this year will impact US 202 (River Street), Stratton Road, Blake Street, and Main Street (NH 124/US 202).
This project also includes the construction of two roundabouts, improved drainage, utility upgrades and repair of the existing US 202/NH 124 bridge on Main Street.
Message boards, flaggers, uniformed officers and traffic control devices will be used as necessary to direct the travelling public. Road users are encouraged to take alternate routes or plan for delays when travelling through the work zone, especially during peak traffic hours.
Road users are also encouraged to sign up for free, real-time construction and traffic related messages via text or email from newengland511.org/.
BUR Construction LLC of Newport, New Hampshire is the contractor for the $23 million project, which is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2028.
