A second person has died following a fatal house fire in Troy on March 31, the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office confirmed.
Madalyn K. Jalava, 24, succumbed to injuries sustained in the fire after being transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
The 56-year-old victim, identified as Benjamin P. Jalava, succumbed to injuries sustained in the fire after being transported to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene on March 31.
Crews were dispatched to 51 Morse St. at approximately 1:45 a.m. after a resident reported a chimney fire that had spread to the home’s porch. A second 911 call moments later indicated the caller was trapped inside as the fire intensified.
The results of autopsies conducted on both victims remain pending. Both victims were confirmed to be residents of the home where the fire occurred.
Investigators from the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office continue to investigate the origin and cause of the fire.
