Waking up to war

In his Feb. 27 early morning announcement of the US attack on Iran, Donald Trump presented the most dishonest, slanted version of history I’ve ever heard. Once again, we are lied to by our leaders to allow them to engage in war.

Engage in war to profit the weapons manufacturers. Engage in war to distract from the Epstein files cover-up. Engage in war to vilify and steal another people’s lands and resources, and to scapegoat them, blaming another culture for our own failures. Engage in war despite over 70% of US citizens being opposed to war with Iran.

Trump and Netanyahu launched “pre-emptive” strikes in violation of international law. Iran did not. In 2018, Donald Trump withdrew the US from the joint Nuclear Arms Non-Proliferation Agreement that Iran and the other signing nations, the UK, France, China, Russia, and Germany, have honored. The aggressors are the nuclear-armed US and Israel, not Iran.

Our leaders have embraced a culture of killing, destruction, oppression, and consumption for profit. If we do not change the path we are traveling on, our future as a people is one of darkness and death.
