The Souhegan Lions Club hosted the 48th annual Peanut Butter Chip Chase 5K on New Yearโ€™s Day in Temple, drawing 130 participants despite cold and windy conditions.

Mathew Seitz, 40, of Peterborough, won the race overall with a time of 19:32. Rachel Hurley, 24, also of Peterborough, finished second overall in 21:32, marking her second consecutive year as the top female finisher.

Oliver Ellerkamp of Peterborough placed second overall among men, while Kristen Seitz of Peterborough was second overall among women. Donavan Griffis of New Ipswich finished third overall male, and Meghan Conway of Nashua placed third overall female.

Lena DiBona, 9, of Norwell, Massachusetts, earned the traditional giant cookie award as the youngest finisher and also won the girls under-14 age category.

Following the race, participants warmed up with homemade cookies and soup provided by event organizers.
