Christmas starts early this year, with the annual Knights of Columbus Christmas tree sales opening this weekend, with 120 trees sourced from a family farm in Colebrook.

Jaffrey’s Knights of Columbus chapter in St. Patrick’s Church raises funds to benefit various causes, both locally and abroad.

John Stone, a member of the Jaffrey chapter, said that traditionally, the sales from the Christmas trees have generated funds that return mostly to the Jaffrey community. The organization has previously supported local food pantries, the Jaffrey Recreation Department, Jaffrey youth baseball, a pregnancy resource center in Keene, and provided money for special projects. The fund-raising also has helped sponsor men studying to become priests and women studying to become nuns, the St. Patrick’s parish outreach programs, and the Vatican.

Payment can be made with credit cards, cash and checks.

The price is $65 for trees from about four to six feet, and $75 for trees ranging from six to eight feet.

Tree sales will begin Nov. 22, in the St. Patrick’s Church parking lot, 89 Main St., after the trees are delivered that morning. After Nov. 22, the trees will be for sale on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m., while supplies last.
