The property tax rate for Temple for the coming year has been set at $15.36 per $1,000 of value, which is down from $15.99 last year.

The municipal rate is $3.75 per $1,000 of value, compared to $3.79 last year.

The Select Board and Budget Committee agreed to use a total of $120,000 from the unreserved fund balance to reduce the municipal rate, to ensure that the municipal portion was kept steady compared to past years.

The county rate is set at 90 cents this year, compared to 78 cents last year.

The Local Education rate is set at $9.65 this year, which is a 7.7% drop, compared to the previous rate of $10.42. The State Education portion is $1.06, up from $1 last year.

A home valued at $350,000 can expect to pay a tax bill of $5,376 in the coming year, compared to $5,596.50 last year, for a similarly valued home.

The tax bills were mailed on Saturday, Nov. 15, and payments are due on Dec. 16. They can be paid by cash, check, certified check or money order. Anyone planning to pay a bill in cash in an amount greater than $1,000 must make an appointment with the tax collector or town clerk. The appointment will require that two town officials be present at the time of the transaction. To request an appointment, contact taxcollector@templenh.gov.
