The Francestown Select Board formally welcomed new Chief of Police Mark Philibert during its meeting Monday night.
Philibert, a veteran and officer in the National Guard, has had a long career in law enforcement. He previously served with the Hillsborough Police Department and has been chief of police in Deering since 2020.
According to Select Board Chair Charlie Pyle, longtime former Francestown Police Chief Fred Douglas, who officially retired during the first week of November, will return in a civilian capacity to assist Philibert with the transition beginning Dec. 1.
