The Rindge Conservation Commission will host a presentation by Jacques Veilleux, professor of biology and environmental science at Franklin Pierce University, on Monday, Oct. 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Rindge Recreation Center, 283 Wellington Road.
The free program, held during Bat Appreciation Month, will highlight the role of bats in the fall season, their winter hibernation sites, and their ecological value as natural pest control.
Veilleux, often called Monadnockโs โBatman,โ has more than two decades of research experience on bat populations in New Hampshire and nationwide, including surveys for the stateโs Fish and Game Department and studies of endangered species affected by development.
As a follow-up, the Conservation Commission will offer a Bat Watch hike Sunday, Oct. 19, at 3:30 p.m. at Miriam Hunt Forest, Route 119 across from Cutter Hill Road.
