The ConVal girls’ varsity soccer team earned a 1-1 draw with Souhegan before rolling to a decisive 6-1 victory over Laconia.
Against Souhegan, ConVal started strong but conceded in the eighth minute after a pass into the box. The Cougars equalized late when Haley Mathewson converted a penalty in the 75th minute following a handball.
Traveling to Laconia for their fifth game, ConVal dominated early. Emma O’Brien opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a looping shot, and Mathewson doubled the lead off a Clara Wilsher assist. Laconia quickly cut the deficit, but Wilsher restored ConVal’s advantage with two goals before halftime. O’Brien added her second in the 59th minute, finishing a corner from Mathewson. Moments later, Mathewson capped the scoring with a 30-yard strike that slipped past the keeper.
Final scores: ConVal 1, Souhegan 1; ConVal 6, Laconia 1.
