RINDGE โ€” The monthly Music at the Museum open mic will take place Saturday, Aug. 30, at 1 p.m. on the lawn of the Rindge Historical Society, 24 School St. This monthโ€™s featured performance is Not Dead Yet, led by vocalist and bass guitarist Mark Cantrill. A $5 donation at the door benefits the Historical Society museum. Desserts, light lunch items and non-alcoholic beverages will be available.

Cantrill, who toured with the rock band Molly Hatchet, is known locally as the sound engineer for Music at the Museum. He began volunteering after meeting host Ray Siekierski, who encouraged him to help with the eventโ€™s audio system.

The trio of Siekierski, Cantrill and Karla MacLeod organize the monthly program, with Siekierski hosting and coordinating performers and MacLeod, president of the Historical Society, handling logistics, refreshments and donations.

Musicians, poets and spoken word artists of all ages are encouraged to sign up for the open mic. Performers may email Siekierski at nooniekirk52@gmail.com. Slots are limited to two pieces or 10 minutes. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs.

Music at the Museum is typically held on the last Saturday of the month, March through October, indoors at the Rindge Meeting House or outdoors at the Historical Society. Future featured acts include Rick Ekstrom on Sept. 27 and Andrew Lewis on Oct. 25.
