The George Holmes Bixby Memorial Library will hold its annual Labor Day Open House from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, as part of the town’s 107th Francestown Improvement & Historical Society Labor Day Carnival.
This year’s highlight will be the “My Francestown” art exhibit. Throughout the summer, patrons picked up mini canvases and created artwork reflecting what makes Francestown special. The canvases will be displayed in the library, and an art station will be available for those wishing to create new pieces. Artists who submitted work may pick up their canvases beginning Sept. 2 during regular library hours.
The event also features a scavenger hunt for families that takes participants through all three floors of the library, with small prizes awarded to children who complete it.
On the lawn and third floor, hundreds of books from the library’s collection will be available to purchase. The sale has no set prices; donations are welcome to support the library. Light refreshments will be served.
Staff will not process loan checkouts during the event.
