The New Hampshire Big Band Dance Contest & Concert will feature the Freese Brothers Big Band on Friday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m. at The Park Theatre, 19 Main St.
The evening includes an all-ages dance contest with a $250 cash grand prize. No preregistration is required. Second- and third-place prizes will also be awarded. Contestant sign-up begins when doors open at 6 p.m. The dance floor will remain open for those who prefer to enjoy the music without competing.
Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at theparktheatre.org or by calling 603-532-8888. The event is family friendly. Concessions and a bar will be open, with ID required for alcohol purchases.
The Freese Brothers Big Band, founded in 1982 by four brothers from Pittsfield, features a mix of volunteer musicians and high school students. The 20-piece ensemble specializes in swing and classic big band music and supports young musicians through its Memorial Scholarship Fund, which has awarded more than $100,000 since 1986.
