The Summer Silent Boxing Film Series concludes with a screening of Buster Keaton’s “Battling Butler” on Sunday, Aug. 24 at 2 p.m. at the Town Hall Theatre, 40 Main St., Wilton. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $10.
Released in 1926, the film follows Alfred Butler (Keaton), a wealthy man who poses as a championship boxer to impress a woman. The plan leads to a series of comic situations in and out of the ring.
The screening will feature live music by Jeff Rapsis, a New Hampshire-based silent film accompanist who uses digital synthesizer to recreate the texture of a full orchestra.
The series has highlighted boxing stories from the silent era, when the sport held broad appeal and required little dialogue to follow on screen.
