The 45th annual Run for the Honey 5K will take place Saturday, Aug. 16 in Hancock, starting and ending in the village. The 5K begins at 8 a.m. on School Street and ends at the Meetinghouse and vestry on Main Street. The Kids’ Fun Run, a 400-yard race starting at the bandstand, begins at 9 a.m.

The 5K course includes paved and gravel roads with rolling terrain and two moderate hills. A water station will be located at the two-mile mark. The first 100 registrants will receive a jar of honey. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in nine age categories for men and women.

Registration and race number pickup will be at the vestry next to the Meetinghouse. The 5K entry fee is $5 for Hancock residents and $10 for nonresidents. Online registration is at hancock5k.com and closes Thursday, Aug. 14. Race-day registration runs from 7 to 7:45 a.m. The Kids’ Fun Run is free and registration is on race day only.
