The Park Theatre in Jaffrey will screen “Renoir: Reviled and Revered” on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. as part of the “Exhibition on Screen” series. The documentary explores the life and work of Pierre-Auguste Renoir, tracing his evolution from celebrated Impressionist to a more-controversial figure in later years.
Featuring high-definition visuals, rare archival footage and commentary, the film examines Renoir’s artistic legacy, his influence on modern art and his perseverance in painting despite severe rheumatoid arthritis.
Tickets are $18 and available at theparktheatre.org, by calling 603-532-8888, or at the box office 90 minutes before showtime.
For the afternoon screening, a pre-show lunch will be served at noon, prepared by local chef Carolyn Edwards. Meals must be pre-ordered at parklunch.org.
The film will be shown on The Park Theatre’s 27-foot screen with 17-speaker surround sound.
