The Jaffrey Civic Center will host an exhibition of Dr. Charles Hamiltonโs private collection of Frank Lloyd Wright materials from Aug. 8 through Sept. 20. An opening reception will be held Friday, Aug. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the center, located at 40 Main St.t in Jaffrey.
Hamilton, a Jaffrey native (1930โ2019), began collecting books, articles and correspondence related to Wright in 1953 after watching a televised interview with the architect. Over five decades, he built a personal archive inspired by Wrightโs vision of a uniquely American architecture rooted in democracy and freedom.
The exhibition showcases Hamiltonโs appreciation for Wrightโs work and philosophy.
The Jaffrey Civic Center is open Wednesday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
Founded in 1966, the Jaffrey Civic Center is a nonprofit cultural organization supporting artistic, educational and civic activities in the Monadnock Region. It is also home to the Jaffrey Historical Society.
