Nora Fiffer, a writer, director, producer and actor, will speak on Sunday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. as part of theย Monadnock Summer Lyceum in the sanctuary at the Peterborough Unitarian Universalist Church, 25 Main St.
Fiffer co-founded the Firelight Theatre Workshop in Peterborough in 2017. Her presentation, โMaking Room for the Audience,โ describes what Firelight Theatre does. Recognized by New Hampshire Magazine as the best experimental theater in the state, Firelight is known for productions in which the audience is often amid the action.
Fiffer will discuss her process of creating immersive theatre and film, designed to get audiences to lean forward instead of back.
Fifferโs debut feature film, โAnother Happy Day,โ ย premiered at the Vail Film Festival in 2023. Recently featured on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” the film was released last year on Apple TV and Prime Video. Fiffer also acts in the film, which stars Lauren Lapkus and Carrie Coon.
โAnother Happy Dayโ ย will be screened at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Peterborough Community Theatre.ย ย Admission is free or by donation.
Fiffer is a graduate of New York Universityโs Tisch School of the Arts and of The School at Steppenwolf. She has performed at Chicago-area theatres that include Steppenwolf, Goodman, Lookingglass and the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.
Welcome music begins at 10:30 a.m. and will feature Volkert Volkersz, a singer, songwriter and guitarist. The lecture begins at 11 a.m. with an introduction by moderator Michele Steckler, who worked with the Disney Theatrical Group.ย
From 10 a.m., free child care will be provided by adult volunteers in compliance with the church’s Safe Child policy. Playrooms are located downstairs in the UU Nest.ย
