On Monday, July 7, 36 runners competed in the inaugural race of the Monadnock Milers Scorched Sneakers Summer Series in Peterborough, covering the 2.8-mile course in hot, humid weather.
Matt Seitz was the top male finisher with a time of 16 minutes, 51 seconds. Monica Ayres led the women, finishing second overall in 18:28.
The next race in the series is scheduled for July 21 at Moose Brook Park in Hancock. Registration begins at 6 p.m. and the race starts at 6:30.
