Emily Goodrich, a 10th-grader at Mascenic Regional High School, placed fifth in the state at the New Hampshire Educators Rising competition with her original children’s book, “Lacey’s Marvelous Adventure.” Her high score qualified her for the Educators Rising National Conference in Orlando, Fla., from June 26 to 29.

Goodrich, who is a Careers in Education student at the Region 14 Applied Technology Center at ConVal High School and hopes to become a preschool teacher, wrote and illustrated the book using colored pencils. Aimed at preschoolers, the story encourages outdoor play, imagination and creativity while promoting teamwork and friendship.

The national conference brings together students exploring teaching careers and includes breakout sessions, networking, competitions and keynote speakers.
