
Monadnock Music will open its 60th anniversary season Tuesday, June 3, at 7 p.m. with a performance by the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum at The Park Theatre, 19 Main St., Jaffrey.
The student-run mixed-voice choir from Harvard University will present a program of choral works spanning historical and contemporary styles. Under the direction of Andrew G. Clark and Hana J. Cai, the ensemble includes 40 undergraduate students from diverse academic backgrounds, performing pieces by composers ranging from J.S. Bach to Jake Runestad.
Founded in 1971, the collegium is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed and managed by its student members through the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum Foundation, with support from donors. The group has performed across the Northeast and internationally.
The program will include “The Word Was God” by Rosephanye Powell, “Ich lasse dich nicht,” BWV 1164 by J.S. Bach; “I Will Lift Mine Eyes” by Howard Helvey, “Herr, bin ich du nicht habe,” SWV 280 by Heinrich Schütz; “Daniel, Daniel, Servant of the Lord,” a spiritual arranged by Undine Smith Moore; “In the Beginning” by Aaron Copland; “Come to the Woods” by Jake Runestad; “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands,” a spiritual arranged by Cedric Dent; “Opening Remarks” by Kieran Chung; and “you, eternity” by Jerry Li.
