The Peterborough Renewable Energy Project website states: “In May 2021, a 74% majority of voters passed a warrant article committing the Town of Peterborough to a goal of using 100% renewable energy for electricity by 2030 and for all other purposes, primarily transportation and heating and cooling, by 2050.”
I have consulted with homeowners, businesses and institutions in Peterborough and other towns and cities in New Hampshire to assist them in accomplishing this worthy goal. During these consultations, there is an initial agreement with the goal of converting to renewable energy. Unfortunately, concerns about economic payback vis à vis the fossil fuel status quo or aesthetics often keeps the talk from becoming the walk. Recently, I was pleased to meet with a group from the United Congregational Church in Peterborough to see their beautiful new solar array and air source heat pumps. On behalf of myself and future generations, I want to thank them for walking the talk.
