Despite foggy weather, hikers still flocked to Mount Monadnock on Jan. 1 for the traditional First Day Hike.

A longstanding tradition, the First Day Hike invites hikers to start the new year off by exploring the outdoors with self-guided hikes up the peaks and around trails associated with the state parks.

This year, hikes were held at Milan Hill State Park, White Lake State Park, Pisgah State Park, Odiorne Point State Park, Pawtuckaway State Park, Northwood Meadows State Park and Monadnock State Park in Jaffrey.
