Peterborough’s next First Friday will take place in and around Depot Square on Oct. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. and later.

Activities include a live musical performance from Dragonfly in front of Baker’s Station in Depot Square from 5 to 7 p.m. Dragonfly consists of Judy Blake on vocals and percussion, Ken Hamshaw on guitar and vocals and Danny Solomon on bass. Hailing from the Monadnock region and making music together since 2007, they offer a mix of classic and new rock, folk, bluegrass, country and more.

MacDowell Downtown returns to Peterborough Public Library with photographer Lenard Smith, a first-generation Ghanaian-American interdisciplinary artist and educator from Los Angeles. He has exhibited his work throughout the United States and abroad, published six artist books and contributed photography to The New York Times and The Atlantic. His work is included in the permanent collections of The Whitney and Lee Kaplan African American Visual Culture Collection at the Getty Research Institute, Light Work in Syracuse, N.Y., and the Wallis Annenberg Photography Department at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Doors open at 7 p.m. with light refreshments available, and the presentation is from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

At Monadnock Academy of Movement Arts on Grove Street and Depot Square, Christina and her team will be hosting the Ecstatic Dance from 6 to 7 p.m.

The Peterborough Players will be introducing the community to new Artistic Director Brendon Fox at the Mariposa at 6 p.m.  Fox will share his vision for the upcoming years.

Peterborough Public Library will host an artist reception in its Community Art Gallery for “Change: The Art of Michael Kline” from 5 to 7 p.m. Kline will be in attendance.
