The opening of The Peterborough Hospital – now Monadnock Community Hospital — as chronicled in the June 21, 1923 Peterborough Transcript was something “which has been in the minds and thoughts of some of our citizens for a long time.”
“The Peterborough Hospital has been made to look, without and within as much like a home as possible. Its greatest quality is cheerfulness, and sunlight and an air of brightness everywhere. As you enter it you look almost at once into a comfortable living room, with comfortable and attractive furniture and books, and fine old prints on the walls. Here, one may wait to sec a friend who is ill, or in the long winter evenings a convalescent may sit before an open fire to read.”
