Peterborough’s tax rate for 2023 is increasing 9%, from $25.86 to $28.19 per $1,000 assessed valuation.
The new figure would result in a tax bill of $8,457 on a home valued at $300,000, a $699 increase from the $7,758 for fiscal 2023.
The figure comes after the Select Board approved $1.4 million to be used from the fund balance to lessen the increase. The tax rate for the town portion of the tax bill remained steady at $9.17 per $1,000.
“The town rate has been the same for three years running now,” said Peterborough Finance Director Lilli Gilligan.
The rate for the school portion of the bill had the largest increase, from $14.51 to $16.16 per $1,000. The state education rate increased from $1.21 to $1.66 per $1,000, and the county rate increased from 97 cents to $1.20 per $1,000.
