Three Connecticut residents were arrested Wednesday after reportedly attempting to pass fraudulent money at a Jaffrey business and an auto accident and search in Peterborough.

According to the Peterborough Police Department, at approximately 5 p.m., the department was requested to be on the lookout for a for a gray SUV with a New Jersey license plate. The suspect vehicle had reportedly just left Jaffrey after two individuals attempted to exchange fraudulent currency at a Jaffrey business.

Master Patrolman Jesse Byam and Master Patrolman Shane Sweeney located the suspect vehicle on Jaffrey Road at the Route 101 lights, at which point police state the suspect vehicle immediately sped off on Route 101 (Dublin Road), traveling westbound.ย ย 

While police attemptedย to catch up to the vehicle, the suspect vehicle was involved in a three-car motor vehicle collision at Route 101 and Union Street, according to police.

Reports from eyewitnesses indicated that multiple suspects from the suspect vehicle fled into the woods on foot, with one subject remaining at the scene. Three ambulances responded, and one subject (the driver of the suspect vehicle) was transported to the hospital for evaluation of an existing leg injury. There were no injuries related to the traffic collision, according to police,

Once the accident scene was secured,ย Sweeney and K-9 Quesoย began tracking the suspects with the assistance of Greenfield and Jaffrey officers. The K-9 track led officers to the area of Rockbrookย Apartments onย Union Street, where the scent was lost. Several officers remained in the area on foot and roving patrol.

Around 7:40 p.m., the Peterborough Police Department received a phone call from a resident of the Rockbrook Apartments indicating that the two subjects that were posted on the departmentโ€™s Facebook page were inside her apartment.

According to police, once officers arrived on scene, multiple verbal commands for anyone inside the apartment to exit were given. After no one exited, police stated that officers entered the apartment along with Queso, at which time the two suspects were located inside a closet in the apartment. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident.

The suspects are Dereck Calva Castillo, 18, of New Haven, Conn.; Richard Williams, 26, of Bridgeport, Conn., who police state was the driver; andย Alannah Suarez, 20, of Meriden, Conn.

Williams was transported to Monadnock Community Hospital and cleared by medical staff. Suarez was evaluated by Peterborough Fire and Rescue, and Calva Castillo denied any injuries.ย 

Calva Castillo, Williams, and Suarez were transported to the Valley Street Jail to await arraignment on various charges.

Dublin, Greenfield, Hancock, Jaffrey, Peterborough Fire andย Rescue, Hillsborough County Sheriffโ€™sย Office, and the U.S. Secret Service all provided assistance.
