An anonymous donor from the community has gifted the Greenville Fire Department with three portable tool kits.
The kits have already been put into service, and will be carried on the department’s trucks. Assistant Chief Charles Buttrick said the department was recently training on disassembling apparatus for situations such as when a limb gets trapped by a snowblower, lawnmower or farm equipment. During that training, the department found that they did not have a full range of tools, or only limited numbers of them.
Following that training, the department received three tool kits containing common tools. Buttrick said the kits don’t contain any specialty items, but “down-to-Earth” items such as wrenches and screwdrivers.
“It’s not extravagant, but it’s practical to have,” Buttrick said.
