Hancock Congregational Church, 47 Main St., in Hancock, will host a Longest Night Service Thursday, Dec. 22, at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.

During the holidays, lights and greenery are strung up on houses and businesses. Holiday music fills the air, and while the world may seem full of joy and wonder, people may feel grief, pain, fear, and struggle. People in this situation are invited to recognize their feelings of loss and hear a word of hope at the Longest Night Service of hope and healing.

While the service will center on the Christian message of light shining through the darkness, people are welcome no matter what their religious or spiritual background may be.
