FIELD HOCKEY

Hanover 6, ConVal 0

ConVal dropped their ninth game in a row on the road at Hanover Tuesday afternoon.

“The game was a lot of back and forth play the entire game, with both teams having some great passing,” ConVal coach Kelly Shirk said.

Seniors Makennah McPherson-Carland and Laramie Wilson each had shots on goal, but the Cougars were shut out for the seventh time this season.

Senior goalie Lydia Cleveland made eight saves on the day.

ConVal (1-12) travels to Laconia for their final game of the season on Friday.

Conant 4, Hopkinton 1

Conant’s win streak is up to six after a 4-1 win at Hopkinton Tuesday.

“My team played well and together,” said head coach Jackie Brown.

Rylee Herr scored twice; Sophia Spingola and Meg Newton scored once each, and Maddie Bergeron, Graecen Kirby and Katy Weidner had assists, and Bergeron played an excellent all-around game.

Conant (10-3) looks to be a top-five seed and plays the regular-season finale on Thursday at Stevens.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Lebanon 3, ConVal 2

ConVal lost yet another one-goal game Tuesday, this time at Lebanon.

“It’s been brutal,” coach Derek Sorbello said.

Haley Mathewson scored twice for the Cougars and Ray Covey and Abby Lussier split the game in net.

“Again we had plenty of good opportunities,” Sorbello said. “Their goalie made three really great saves on our best looks.”

ConVal (4-9) has played eight one-goal games this year and lost five. The Cougars host Coe-Brown Friday.

Conant 1, Fall Mountain 0

Rhianna Aho was the difference-maker in Langdon Tuesday night, scoring the game’s only goal off a Riley Vitello corner kick with less than five minutes remaining in the game.

“It was so nice to see Rhianna get a goal today,” said head coach Devon Spirka. “She works so hard as one of our center middies, and her presence is so important on the field for us. It’s nice to see it pay off for her in a big way today. She was where she was supposed to be and capitalized on an opportunity.”

Kelly Williams made eight saves in net; Izzie Rollins played well at sweeper, and Iris Hill, Kim Chea and Helen Quill played aggressive and smart on defense.

“Our defense played amazing tonight,” Spirka said. ‘They worked together, they communicated, they covered for each other. It was all there defensively for us, which was nice to see as we have been working a lot in practice defensively.”

Conant (7-7) is currently the 10th seed in Division III and should clinch a spot in the 16-team playoffs with a win or a Kearsarge loss. The Orioles host Derryfield Friday.
