The Hancock Woman’s Club has named Meghan Bedard to receive one of its annual scholarship awards, which she will use begin a nursing program that will enhance her training.

Bedard, a licensed practical nurse at Summerhill Assisted Living, has received two awards from the woman’s club for different steps in her work to become a registered nurse in order to ultimately work in an emergency department. She was awarded $250 from the Caitlin Mullin Memorial Fund to complete the IV Therapy Education (with lab) program from the Infusion Knowledge University. She has been accepted into the LN-RN Bridge Program at St. Joseph School of Nursing and will begin in the fall. She has been awarded $750 from the Caitlin Mullin Memorial Fund toward the cost of this program.

The Hancock Woman’s Club Scholarship Program is an annual program open to adult women in midcareer or who are beginning the process of changing or returning to a career. Applicants must have been residents of Hancock for at least two years. The scholarship program has been funded by anonymous donations, memorial fund donations like the Caitlin Mullin gift, fundraisers run by the club and other donations.
