It’s easy to get depressed and just accept things as they are becoming. After all, what can we do? One party is like a circular firing squad, and the other clearly does not care a whit about what the people want. There is so much at stake. Well, here are some of the things we can do.

Show up – When you have a chance to act or put your money where your mouth is — in the service of love, and compassion, which we are correctly famous for — do it. Defend your worth and dignity, and those of your less-privileged neighbor.

Vote — Talk about how important it is for all of us to vote. Regardless of party, do our representatives deserve their jobs, their pay and privilege? Do they really respect us? Are our leaders’ actions based on your and your neighbor’s needs and thoughts? Do they deserve your vote?

Respond – No matter what you feel about your representatives now, use your speed dial or write to them and let them know what you think. Your responses are counted.

Remember – Twice, people died or lived wounded so this country would be a union. Are you sure that some group through the local, state and federal governments and the judiciary won’t torture you because of your choices, economic state or skin color? How often has history shown that we must stand together to protect our lives and right to decide?

Do you care about your neighbors, especially when they do not live or look like you? Each of us can choose to be lulled into acceptance, because it’s easy, or we can choose to have love and respect. Which will you choose?
