Jaffrey Public Library and Jaffrey Fire Department will hold a Water Fun Day Friday, July 8, at 3 p.m.
Families can come to the library lawn at 38 Main St. to meet local firefighters and participate in water games. Attendees should bring sunscreen and a towel, and caregiver supervision is required for all ages. All are welcome, and no registration is required.
The library will hold a Santa Storytime Wednesday, July 13, at 10:30 a.m. Monadnock Santa will be on the library lawn for stories, magic and music. Attendees should bring blankets and sun hats. All are welcome, and no registration is required.
The library presents “Raptors Up Close,” featuring a visit from Vermont Institute of Natural Science, Friday, July 15, at 3 p.m. This first-hand encounter with live falcons, hawks and owls enables participants to understand the characteristics that make a bird a raptor and their adaptations for life as a predator. The event also includes touchable artifacts and hands-on materials. Sponsored by a grant from MilliporeSigma. All are welcome, and no registration is required.
The library will host a CLiF author/illustrator story time and book giveaway Wednesday, July 27, at 10:30 a.m. A grant from the Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF) is allowing the library to invite Summer Learning families to a storytelling and book giveaway event with a children’s author. Following the storytelling, CLiF will treat each child to two books to take home for their personal libraries. The event will be held on the library lawn, so people should bring blankets and sunblock. Please indicate ages of children when registering. Registration is required through townofjaffrey.com/jaffrey-public-library so CLiF sends enough books.
The summer finale, “Dig Deeper into the Science of Ice Cream,” will be Friday, Aug. 5, at 3 p.m. on the library lawn. SubZero Ice Cream and Yogurt will demonstrate the science behind nitrogen in ice cream to celebrate Summer Learning accomplishments. The demonstration will be followed by free ice cream for all registrants. People must be Summer Learning participants to join in the celebration. Allergy-friendly options arevavailable.
