The Rindge Conservation Commission invites the public to celebrate Father’s Day and kick off Pollinator Week Sunday, June 19, at 1:30 p.m. by exploring the outdoors and observing New Hampshire native pollinators at Tetreault Park and Rindge Town Forest.
The one-hour hike is free and open to everyone, and being a father is not required. The walk will begin at the parking area and follow well-defined paths, stopping to visit the newly seeded pollinator garden. Conservation Commission Chair David Drouin will lead the hike, along with New Hampshire Master Gardener Deni Dickler. When participating in outdoor activities, people should protect themselves with sunscreen and bug spray, and bring a bottle of water.
The June 19 hike starts the Rindge Conservation Commission’s annual hike and paddle series that highlights the town’s trails, forests and wetlands. Each outing is led by an experienced Conservation Commission member with specific knowledge of the history and natural features present on the conservation land. The next four hikes in the series are July 24 at Converse Meadow (includes a paddle tour), Aug. 21 at Schoolhouse Park, Sept. 25 at Miriam Hunt Memorial Forest and Oct. 16 at Contoocook Marsh Conservation Complex. The events are free and held rain or shine.
The Rindge Conservation Commission monitors and protects wetlands, lakeshores, watersheds and other natural resources within the town. Hikes, workdays and educational events are held to involve and educate the public about conservation areas and benefits of preserving land for the future. For information about this hike or others in the hike and paddle series, send email to the Rindge Conservation Commission at rindgeconcom@town.rindge.nh.us.
