Crews from several local departments responded to a fire in the attic of Monadnock Disposal Service’s container shop on Old Sharon Road in Jaffrey Thursday afternoon.
Jaffrey Fire Chief David Chamberlain said the department received a call at 2:09 p.m. for a fire at 139 Old Sharon Road, while firefighters were at a call at Thorndike Pond.
According to Chamberlain, Peterborough Fire Chief Ed Walker was the first to arrive. The fire was above a garage door, and Chamberlain said Walker called for a second alarm at 2:19 after seeing fire coming out of the side of the building. Damage was limited to the area above the garage door, and Chamberlain said there were no injuries, as everyone was out of the building. The fire was declared under control by 2:40 p.m.
In addition to Jaffrey and Peterborough, firefighters from Rindge, Keene, New Ipswich, Dublin and Winchendon, Mass., responded to the fire, along with Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance and police. Greenville Fire Department covered the station in Jaffrey.
