Volunteers in The River Center’s free tax preparation program offered through IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) donated more than 500 hours in helping low- to moderate-income households file their taxes for free. They deserve special recognition for accepting and persevering through the challenges that a low-contact environment brought.

Their efforts helped families from the Monadnock Region access over $129,000 in Earned Income Credits and over $117,000 in Child Tax Credits. Generous with their time and talents, these volunteers are David Bernstein, Jeremy Blydenburgh-Coté, Vance Finch, Geoff Frank, Deb Fredericks, Kristen Garland, Paddy Garrett-McCarthy, Jim Hassinger, Peter Kingsley, Tina Kriebel, Laura Lawlor, Janine Lesser, Rick Lesser, Ella Phillips, Suzanne Robinson, Rob Rudowsky, JepStreit, Barbara Summers and Lynn Thibodeau. Tina Kriebel also served as the volunteer coordinator responsible for managing the greeters, and staff member Sue Shute deserves kudos for fielding the hundreds of phone calls and scheduling appointments over the past four months.

Thank you for stepping up and assisting us in living out our mission to strengthen individuals and families in Peterborough, Jaffrey, New Ipswich and surrounding towns. Our community is all the better because of you.
