Ingalls Memorial Library will present New England folk duo Andy and Judy Daigle Friday, April 29, at 6:30 p.m. The performance will take place at the Rindge Meeting House, located at 6 Payson Hill Road.
The Daigles have been singing together since 2009. They wrote their first songs as a duo in 2011, and have recorded more than 80 original songs and produced seven albums. As songwriters, they attempt to rekindle the sense of community and action which develops when people get together and sing new songs. Also, many of their songs are written about historical events and places. For example, their catalog contains songs about the Orphan Train experience and the struggles of the Civil War. These songs open a dialogue about the past and how it affects the present.
Library Director Donna Straitiff stated, “We are excited about bringing folk music back to the Meeting House on a Friday night. We had contemplated hosting a potluck dinner before the show. The interest wasn’t there, but the show will be worth coming out for. Doors will open at 6 p.m.”
This program is being sponsored by the Friends of Ingalls Library. Contact the library at 603-899-3303 or send email to donna@ingallslibrary.com with questions.
