The Wilton Collaborative Space at 25 Gregg St. will host New Hampshire’s own Scottish orchestra, the Strathspey and Reel Society of New Hampshire, for a free concert on Sunday, April 3, at 2 p.m.
A regular performer at the New Hampshire Highland Games at Loon Mountain, the society plays a variety of authentic Scottish melodies — slow, evocative airs, jubilant jigs and driving reels as well as Scottish strathspeys. Kip Ferguson of Hollis will be the master of ceremonies and share a song or two. As the concert is part of the celebration of Tartan Day, all are invited to wear their clan or other tartan. Tartan Day is a North American celebration of all things Scottish and commemorates the 702nd anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320.
The concert is open to the public and free of charge, although reservations and masking are required. Reservations are available by calling the Wilton Public and Gregg Free Library at 603-654-2581 or by emailing Sandy Lafleur at: sandyl@wiltonlibrarynh.org.
