Jaffrey Police arrested a Marlborough woman for driving while intoxicated Saturday, after responding to a report of a vehicle stuck in the snow during the storm that hit the region.
At about 7:19 p.m., Jaffrey police responded to Mountain Road near Dublin Roadย for an SUV whose driver had become stuck in the snow. The driver, Brianna Nicole Lee, 28, of Marlborough, had been traveling west on Mountain Road when she lost control of her vehicle for unknown reasons, and went off the road. According to police, she was able to get back on the roadway, but overcorrected and crossed both lanes, and struck a telephone pole on the eastbound side of the road.
Lee was not injured, but as a result of investigation at the scene, police arrested Lee and charged her with driving or operating under the influence of drugs or liquor.
Leeโs vehicle had moderate front end damage and was towed from the scene. She was released on personal recognizance bail and issued a court date of Feb. 3 at the 8th Circuit Court in Jaffrey. She was given a courtesy ride by police back to her residence.
Jaffrey police also responded to a call on Saturday at 8:45 p.m.ย for a driver who had become stuck in their driveway, with their vehicle partially in the road on Woodbound Road. When police arrived, the situation had already been resolved and no police intervention was necessary.
While the storm was still going, Jaffrey Police also responded to River Street for a report of a 2008 Mazda in a snowbank. Police found the vehicle, which hadย accumulated snowfall, showing it had been there some time. It appeared the vehicle had been traveling north on River Street before veering off the road into the snowbank. There was only minor damage, and no one inside the vehicle, but there were footprints leading from the vehicle.
The homeowner of the property the vehicle had stopped in front of advised it could be left there until morning. Police contacted the owner of the vehicle, who reported the driver had been his son, who had been unable to remove the car from the bank, and the vehicle would be removed within the hour.
Greenfield roads saw the impacts of Saturdayโs storm on Sunday morning, according to Chief of Policeย Brian Giammarino, when a driver went off the road at the corner of Sawmill Road and Forest Road.
โIt took out a fence,โ he said, but there were no injuries and there was only moderate damage to the front end of the car. โThe car just kind of slid across the road โย speed was not a factor.โ
Many other towns saw no accidents at all, including Bennington, according to Chief of Police Jason Lepine.
โI think we got lucky,โ Lepine said. โEverything just shut down, all the businesses just shut down, so people had nowhere to go.โ
